A live person answers. Same-day dispatch for emergencies. Gallegos Plumbing has handled plumbing emergencies across Ventura County since 1996 — family-owned, CA Lic. #1022795, Master Plumber founder, background-checked technicians on every truck.

Plumbing emergencies we act fast on

These are the calls we prioritize — and what you can do right now to limit the damage before we arrive:

  • No hot water. On a gas unit this is usually the pilot, thermocouple, or gas control valve; on electric, a failed element or thermostat. See water heater repair for what we check first.
  • Active water leak. A burst line or a leak you can't stop: close the fixture valve, or the main if it's spreading, then call. Shutting the water off fast is the difference between a repair and a flooded floor.
  • Suspected gas leak. If you smell gas, get everyone out first, then call the gas utility and us from outside. Do not switch anything on or off. We handle the gas line repair once the area is safe.
  • Sudden clog or backup. A kitchen or bath that won't drain and is backing up — stop running water to it and call. See drain cleaning.
  • Sewer trouble. Several drains gurgling at once, sewage coming up, or a foul smell in the yard points to the main line. Keep water use to a minimum until we scope it — sewer line repair.

What to do in the first few minutes

  1. Stop the water. Close the shutoff at the fixture, or the main valve where the line enters the house.
  2. If you smell gas, get everyone outside, then call the gas company and us — from outside.
  3. Cut power to any area taking on water at the breaker, but only if you can reach it safely and dry.
  4. Call us and describe what you are seeing, so we bring the right parts on the first trip.

Honest pricing, even under pressure

An emergency is the easiest time to be overcharged, and we don't. You get the price before the work starts, quoted flat — not an hourly meter that runs faster because it's a Sunday. If the right move is a temporary fix now and the real repair in daylight, we'll tell you that instead of selling you the expensive version at midnight.

Where we respond

Emergency plumbing across Ventura County, the Conejo Valley, and South Santa Barbara County — including Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Simi Valley, Moorpark, and Santa Barbara.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer 24-hour emergency plumbing?

A live person answers your call at any hour, day or night — never an answering machine. Technicians are dispatched the same day during business hours; after-hours and holiday calls are routed to our on-call team and given first priority the next morning. We would rather tell you honestly when a technician will arrive than promise a midnight truck we cannot send.

What counts as a plumbing emergency?

No hot water, an active or burst water leak, a suspected gas leak, a drain that is backing up, and sewage backups are the calls we prioritize. If water or gas is escaping and you cannot stop it, treat it as an emergency and call.

How do I shut off my water in an emergency?

Close the shutoff valve under or behind the affected fixture first. If the leak is spreading or you cannot find a fixture valve, close the main shutoff where the water line enters the house — often near the street-side hose bib, in the garage, or at the meter box. Turning the water off is the single most useful thing you can do before we arrive.

I smell gas — what should I do?

Leave the building immediately and do not switch anything on or off. From outside, call your gas utility and then call us. Once the area is made safe we repair the gas line. Never try to locate a gas leak with a flame.

Will an emergency call cost more than a normal visit?

You always approve a flat price before we begin. We do not run a faster hourly meter because it is a weekend or an evening, and if a temporary fix now plus the full repair in daylight is the smarter, cheaper path, we will say so.
